London Youth Games

Bromley girls came 3rd in the girls cricket providing a solid start to the 2008 Games for Bromley Borough.

In the quarter final they beat Hillingdon fairly comfortably after losing the wicket of an injured Kathrine Long (Kent U13) early on, who battled on in the game with a fractured arm. Lettie Hadley (Kent U13) and Lottie Bryan (Kent U13) batted well and helped to give us a respectable score. Bromley bowled well with Lettie taking 3 wickets off 7 balls.

In the Semi-final the girls were drawn against Merton - the team they played in the tightly fought final of last year – and were set a total of 86. Bromley lost early wickets but got near enough to the total for Georgina Luff, who was playing competitive cricket for the first time, needing 5 off the last ball. A magnificent attempt was disappointingly caught. The girls are looking forward to a possible rematch against Merton next year and want to bring back the trophy to Bromley.
