St Olaves school, Bromley knockout schoools winn St Olaves won the Bromley Schools Knockout Cup U13s on Monday 13 July, defeating Langley Park by 21 runs.
In a 20 over match St Olave’s were put into bat first and got off to a steady start, reaching 51-1 at the halfway point. However in the final 10 overs Angus Dalgliesh (61 not out) and Jordan Fisher (27 not out) dominated the Langley Park attack adding a further 101 runs to the total to close on 151-3.
Some aggressive batting from Langley Park put the St Olave’s bowling attack under pressure and the away team were well in front of the required run rate after 10 overs. However as is often the case in Cup finals, some individual brilliance in the field firstly by wicket keeper Nick Colling to stump their opening batsmen and secondly by Suraj Sridhar who took a terrific catch and effected a run out, swung the match back into St Olave’s favour. Requiring 46 runs off the last 5 overs, Langley Park were still very much in the match but some excellent bowling at the death by Angus Dalgliesh (3-20) and Jordan Fisher (2-9) reduced Langley Park to 131-9 and secured a 21 run victory for St Olave’s.
