Bromley district girls cricket festival 2009

Bromley District Girls Kwik Cricket Festival ran with a huge number of girls – 135 Y5 & Y6 - playing cricket on a warm day. Now in it’s 3rd year and hosted again by Hayes (Kent) Cricket Club, Lydia Greenway’s home club for the Hayes Hurricanes. Qualified ECB coaches ran sessions on fielding, bowling, the drive shot and running between the wickets. ASDA donated healthy snacks and drinks for a well deserved break before the games started. All teams played 4 x 8-a-side matches with Ashgrove School winning the Girls Kwik Cricket Trophy (Edwards Cup), Hawes Down Junior as runners up (Greenway Cup) and Pickhurst Junior in 3rd place ( Duke Cup) coming close behind and Hayes Primary in 4th place – all 3 schools in the ECB Chance to Shine programme
