SkillsActive have successfully secured £250,000 from its partners Sport England and the Learning and Skills Council to provide coaching bursaries to deliver 400 level 1-3 coaching qualifications across London by March 08. Pro-Active South London will be looking at the information provided in the Work Force Development Survey which many local organisations contributed too and speaking to NGBs to assess the need for coaches in the sub-region. These will be UKCC qualifications only and cricket is one of the eligible sports.
Under the bursary model, the award would cover 66% of the cost of the qualification with the club or individual contributing to the remaining 34%. Applicants would apply directly to SkillsActive for their bursary voucher to enable them to access a subsidised place on coaching courses being delivered between November 07 and March 08.
Opportunities for SCUK workshops will also be available as well as 48 tutor and assessor qualifications.
